Taking Kind Of A Break

Those of you paying attention will have noticed that this is my first actual writing output in a week. Those of you paying close attention will have noted that last week's effort was mostly a reissue and the normal Wednesday effort never actually occurred.

The reasons for my recent failures of production are nothing earth-shattering, and certainly nothing to be of concern about; but they did seem to lead me to the conclusion that now might be a good time to take on a lower level of output for a couple of weeks or so.

I suddenly found that while there seems a lot that could be commented about, doing so seems at best farcical and at worst futile. I also found that I was writing because I had to write about something and not because I wanted to. Since "Just Blowing Smoke" is a non-profit endeavor, such effort seemed even more foolish than the output itself.

This is not to say that I will not be writing anything for a while, but rather that my schedule for posting will more than a little erratic, depending more on how much a subject moves me than on the day of the week that it does so. I hope that perhaps by reducing the quantity for a bit might increase the enthusiasm for doing so; and that the quality of the work will begin to show improvement that it has recently lacked as a consequence.

I hope that you will look in from time to time to see what might have been added to the compendium of nonsensical maundering that Just Blowing Smoke has become infamous for, and will try to post links when possible on my Facebook page. Meanwhile, smoke 'em if you got 'em. You can be assured that I will ...

Amigo Tim,

By all means, take a break and write only when the spirit moves you to do so, it's not like blogging is a job...

As you may have noticed, I did and I haven't yet missed it one bit :-)

Like you I began to feel obligated but resisted that urge and even deleted my folder full of drafts and works in various stages of completion.

Trust me, that compulsion will pass.

:-)

Amigo Tim,
I know you know that I know about that of which you speak. Been there often myself, as you know.
For what it's worth, I also know that you know that I have found your written thoughts of much worth, I value your perspective; it makes me think!

So, it appears that Dave and I were composing our comments and experiencing groupthink. That led me to revisit his last entry on Hooda Thinkit's (Gave Zawidny's) Blog which reminded me to make a comment there that I neglected to do at the time (it was during the time frame that I was driving from AZ to OH -- June 12 to Jine 15 -- that this year was later than usual for me).
That said, it seems only appropriate that I place a copy of that comment of mine there here:
El Solo Mio. There were three, then there were two, and now there is one, Or perhaps, less than one.
I am reminded of the ending of the movie "The Fighting Sullivans" originally released as "The Sullivans" only it is "The Three Amigos" ---- now, Let's Ride.

Mi Amigos,

I do appreciate the support, and will be continuing to write, just not three 800-word pieces per week (including the TFP efforts).

Unlike Roland, I am not a fountain of wisdom on a veritable cornucopia of subjects, and some of what I was producing seemed to sound like the same thing over and over again, almost ad nauseum.

Operating at a lower output level simply seems like the thing to do right now.
