I will again be guest hosting on the "Eye On Toledo" show on AM 1370 WSPD. This time on Monday the 6th of July from 6-7 PM.
Listen in if you dare (or simply want a good laugh at my expense) either by tuning in your radio or listening on the web. You can go to wspd.com, then click the listen live button to join the show.
I will be attempting to cover a number of recent local news subjects and some of the normal insanity going on these days, and since it is a talk show, your calls in would be appreciated (and might just save the guest host's sanity).
The phone numbers are 419-240-1370 and toll free 866-321-1370. I have also set up a special email account for use while hosting: tim1370@gmail.com.

Tim,
That's great news!
Yet another chance to sneak past the call screener and embarrass you by reviving the mask, cape & tights subject for all of radio land to enjoy...
Just kidding..., or, am I?
We'll find out on Monday, won't we?
(Heh, heh, heh. . .)
:->
I need to find another AM radio. The one I used last time Tim was on whatever AM radio station that was -- done got broke.
Don't ask how that happened!
Maybe, I'll just have to sit in my horseless carriage (that is just as archaic as AM radio),
--- er I mean, maybe, I'll just have to sit in my automobile, to listen.
What's that static I hear?
Oh, it's AM radio.
:-)
Roland,
Look at it this way, it could have been TV.
Let's face it guys, I have a face and build that only radio will serve, and the fact that its the oldest form of radio communication makes it seem doubly apt.
Tim,
You on television?
Now, THAT would be entertaining.
p.s.
I wonder whatever happened to Kukla, Fran, and Ollie
"I wonder whatever happened to Kukla, Fran, and Ollie"
Or that one-armed guy...
Hey Tim, you weren't wearing a prosthesis, were you; I wasn't trying to stare..., REALLY!
;-)
Roland,
Should I be concerned over the comparison to a show with puppets?
HT,
While I am not a one armed man, I will be operating single handed. Luckily I will be in the care of professionals who know how to deal with my form of disabilities.
Tim,
Sorta like working with one half of your brain tied behind your back?
I am indeed in awe!!!
:-)
Roland,
Should I be concerned over the comparison to a show with puppets?
Did I make a comparison to a show with puppets?
hmmm.... I thought I only added a postscript in which I wondered whatever happened to Kukla, Fran, and Ollie.
But now that you brought up the possibility of a comparison, I would like to quote from my preceding embedded link:
How did a puppet show created for children become "appointment television" for millions of adults? And how was it possible to go on the air for a half-hour each day and create a sharp, witty program with no script? ..... like Jack Benny's radio program, KFO's humor relied on building a relationship between its characters and the audience over time.
and now add that a Tim Higgins television show would far surpass the popularity of Kukla, Fran, and Ollie.
double hmmmm.... Hooda, Tim, and Rollie??????????
Really great show tonight, Tim!!! Went off without a hitch -- CONGRATS! After that string of calls disagreeing with you, I tried to call, but my cell phone connection was bad and couldn't get through. Was gonna ask about WHAT exactly do you cut when things get tough...and make the point that we all love the Library, the parks, and the pools...but necessities must come before entertainment. You did, however, come around to cover that quite nicely... Well done... I'm sure we'll be hearing more from you on the air, and looking forward to it!
WT,
Thank you, but I fear I had a bad second segment. Stumbled a little bit in having the material I wanted close at hand and left some dead air that shouldn't have been.
Perhaps I still did well enough to be invited back again, but we'll see.
I didn't notice any dead air..... although I was listening at home with some interruptions..... Overall: Great show Tim!! You have proved that you definitely can hold your own... Bravo!! Glad to have known you before you were so famous..lol.. ;) Have fun with it, Tim.... I really did enjoy the show...
WT,
It's amazing what you hear (and know) while you are in the studio doing something like this. Trust me when I tell you there were boo boos.
As for holding my own, absolutely and definitely no comment.
Finally, there is little chance that I will become famous. Infamous possibly, but I will probably have to settle for notorious.
Tim,
Much better performance this time, but as you pointed out, not without a couple of minor hitches (mostly with the phone numbers).
In fact I was done with dinner at about 6:30 and couldn't get in; you were booked up with calls waiting in line ;-)
I guess that my prank will have to wait until next time (it was going to be my Foster Brooks impression, byt your first caller beat me to that one) :-)
Hey Hooda Thunkit Dave,
How about that Foster Brooks toast to Don Rickles on Dean Martin Roasts?
Maybe we could roast Tim. I like that idea.
Roland,
That's just mean. Keep it up and no pancakes for you.
Amigo Roland,
I'm confused.
Seems to me like the part of Foster Brooks would be a natural for Amigo Tim :-)
So, it seems that the three Amigos (Plus one) will get together at the semi-secret meeting place after all...
And with your lovely wife along, it seems that we need to discuss some ground rules and perhaps morphing the Three Amigos into the Wild Bunch, if the proper amendments are voted on and passed.
And, perhaps we can arrange a double induction at our next meeting, as I have a perfect couple in mind ;-)
But, let's keep this among ourselves..., interlopers may be monitoring our plans :-)
Yee Haa!!!
Let's ride ;-)
